Community Events
One important element in maintaining a robust community is to
sponsor periodic member events. Below are examples of varied events that can serve
to bring community members together and solidify their relationship with your
organization.
Local/Regional Events - Single-session seminars, workshops,
and other educational events can be offered at the local or regional level to
community members. Members benefit from targeted information made available to
them in their general geographic region.
National Events - Larger events that take place at the national
level can also provide value to community members. Generally multi-day and broad-based,
national events tend to provide a larger array of information geared to all members
of the community, regardless of geographic location.
Webcasts - These Internet-based events often work well in communities
with large, geographically dispersed memberships. They are cost effective for all parties
because they are relatively inexpensive to produce and any community member with Internet
access can participate without leaving his or her location.
Trade Shows - A tie-in with a scheduled trade show appearance can
help you offer community members a special event within the trade show. Such events
can be recreational, such as a party, reception, or other leisure activity held in
conjunction with the trade show, or business-oriented, such as a special "members
only" presentation or educational session.
